HOW MANY DAYS LEFT?

HOW MANY DAYS LEFT TO THE GRAND OPENING OF THE CULTUR-YEAR??? HOW MANY DAYS???? 3!!!
I'm so excited but unfortunately I can't participate because I will be home late on Saturday. LUCKILY Turku has promised us all to give us a very cultural weekend starting on friday already! I'm so happy and so sad too. I'm happy because Turku always makes me feel so good and sad because I have heard that many people living here are sceptic about the big year 2011. They think Turku has nothing to offer and blahblahblah. Whatever you read, don't you let it change you're good feeling about this town. As soon as I can (which is on friday) I will post a post and write about all the cultural happenings during the whole year.

Thank you so much for the 30 (!!!) votes in the little poll I had here on Quelmude. Café Latte won with 6 votes, Wayne's Coffee got second place with 5 votes and on third place was Coffee House and Stockmann Café/Buffet with 4 votes each.

What I'm gonna do now is to go to the cafés that didn't get any votes at alla and make a post about them, so that they will become more popular (I know, I'm so kind and nice!).

Vares

I went to see the new Vares-movie, which was filmed in Turku. Made me miss Turku in the summer (and summer otherwise too).. Turku looked pretty goooood on the big screen, too bad I'm in wintery-Helsinki for another week.
On the other hand it's sad. I'm going to miss this city. :(

The movie was actually pretty good! Support Finnish movies and go see it for yourself.
(I thought only Swedish detective-movies were good........ )

Manhattan Center

I went to one of the biggest Second hand-places in Turku - MANHATTAN. Sometimes I wish it was the real Manhattan in the heart of New York, but each time I realise it's just a building (an ugly one) outside Turku. But as they say: Don't judge a book by it's cover. In other words: Don't hate Manhattan Second Hand just because it is an ugly building. Because I can tell from experience that you can find great bargains there. If you want to find more Second hand-shops in Turku (there are many) you can just google "Kirpputori Turku" or "Kirppis Turku". Or if you are a rebel and don't want to do like I say, I'm sure you will find something with the words "Second hand Turku" too.

The stress

Sorry that my posts have been quite random lately, but I'm in a stress thanks to school so I have to work really hard and don't have much time to go out and take pictures and make new posts to Quemüde. But as soon as I've read 400 pages (uuuf) I will give you a very very nice post about something... dont know about what yet, we'll see. Just be patient dear readers.

The best place in Turku

I had a question to the right on this blog.
The point was to choose the best place in Turku.
We got amazing 8 votes,
and 50 % answered Quelmude,
37 % The Aura river
and finally
12 % thought The center of Turku is the best place here.

So, Quelmude is the shit obviously.

(Now there's a new question,and this time we'll break the record and get more than 8 votes, right?)

Ten reasons...

....why you should live here.. in Turku.

1. Hesburger, a hamburger bar, is from here
2. It's not far away from Stockholm
3. It's probably the nicest city in Finland during the summer
4. The people are so funny, you laugh until you die every day (which is a little sad of course)
5. You find GREAT shops for clothing etc downtown
6. It's near the sea, and on the islands Hirvensalo, Kakskerta and Ruissalo you find beautiful beaches
7. The arcipelago outside Turku is considered the most beautiful one in the world after the one in Greece
8. There are great cafés and probably also great nightclubs (I don't know, I'm not 18) in this place
9. The VARES-movies are filmed here (and 6 January the newest of them will b in the cinemas)
10. TPS, the best ice hockey team, is from here!

the beautiful archipelago

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!!

Yesterday was the last day of 2010, which means that today is the first day of 2011!!!

Went to 3 different parties and came back early this morning. Something else that's important to remember is that this year is the big year. Turku is the European Capital of Culture 2011! It's gonna be amazing, the grand opening ceremony is 15 January. I will be there.

However, here are pix from yesterday! CU!

Ps when you have partied enough it's hard to take very sharp pix... I'm sorry for that.
